Skylar's Second lost tooth....

A couple of nights ago, Skylar and Jade came bursting through the door to show me that Skylar had her second loose tooth. She wiggled that thing all day... right up til the time she went to bed. On one occasion, I walked downstairs to find Skylar assessing the situation, in the bathroom sink...

It still wasn't quite ready the next day, but getting closer. On her first tooth, she pulled it out herself while she was at school, so I was just waiting for her to randomly come up and hand me the tooth...didn't happen, and she was getting so frusterated! That night when she went to get into her bed, she found a letter from the Tooth Fairy...It said:
Dear Skylar,
I've heard from my friends that a second tooth is loose,
When it falls from your mouth, this is what you need to do...
Place a glass of water on the corner of your night stand...
In the bottom of the glass is where your tooth should land!
When I stop to visit, while you are fast asleep,
Up to that glass of water is where I will creep!
With my magic Fairy dust, I will change the color to...
The color of the dress I wore when I came to see you!
Your tooth will be my treasure & in exchange I'll leave for you...
Something underneath your pillow that I hope you think will do!
Love,
The Tooth Fairy

The excitement nearly did her in, so first thing in the morning, We called Grandpa Roger to come and pull it out. It was a success!

So...that night we found a "special" glass that we could use as the official "Tooth Fairy Glass"...Skylar filled it with water, dropped her tooth in, and set it on the night stand just like the letter said to do...

I think she literally woke up at 5:00 a.m. to see if the Tooth Fairy had been there...to her surprise, this is what she found...

The Tooth Fairy made it...Skylar was so excited to see that she was wearing a blue dress, because it her her absolute favorite color! And she left a little something under the pillow as well, just like she promised!

From my point of veiw...Operation Tooth Fairy was a total success! ;)

Trip to Colorado

The girls and I finally decided to take a trip out to Colorado to spend the week with Mike. Really having no expectations...(come on people, have you ever been to Rifle, Colorado!....) Mikey and Emily made sure we had a really fun time. Skylar and Chase loved spending time with Natalie, and from the way she followed them around, I think she liked spending time with them as well. Emily, being 8 months pregnant, was probably the most gracious host ever.

One night, we grabbed a bucket of KFC and headed up to Rifle falls. It was so fun to see the deer in the camp grounds, Natalie loving her new found freedom (I think she ran the entire time we were there...) and making memories in a place that I thought for sure was capable of no fond memories...

We headed to Glenwood Springs another night for dinner at Chili's and 18 holes of mini golf. I played a pretty good game, but in the end Mikey beat by ONE stroke...what's up with that?! Skylar made it through all 18 holes, I think Chase made it through maybe 7, & Natalie hit the ground running, so emily would get shots in as she could.

We did get in a little time with the other Davis' cousins while we were there too. Skylar and Chase were super excited to see Taryn, Adi and Reese. Most of the time spent at there house was out in the Apricot tree in the backyard.

Thanks Mikey and Emily for a great week! For the beds, the food, the entertainment...And THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all that you do to help my family. Mike and I will never be able to repay you for what you have done for us and we appreciate it more than you will probably ever now....and Mikey, I kept my promise...You made it on the blog!

My Garden...

Early this summer, Mike decided that he wanted to plant a garden, so he bought all the stuff, tilled the ground, planted them,.... and then left to go to Colorado...Now plants are not my thing. I can do an awesome display of fake ones, but real ones are another story. Two of my sisters were born with a killer green thumb...I was just born a killer (of plants)...However, I have nutured this little garden like it was my own flesh and blood. Mike planted six pumpkins seeds in one mound, and the seed pack said if more than two came up, you were supposed to thin them out until you only had two plants....Well, all six came up! Who would have thought pulling out a pumpkin plant would be so hard! I told Mike "That it was like killing my children!"
After a couple months, we are starting to see some results. The peas came in and were delicious...The peppers, cucumbers, squash, watermelons, and tomatoes are growing, and we have had zucchinni the last couple days that were ready for picking...Never did I think that this project that was somewhat thrown on my shoulders would be so rewarding....

Chase's Birthday...

Today my little baby turned four years old! Some days I can't even believe she is that big, other days her little attitude makes me think she is 14 and not four! She is so funny, can be so grumpy, and is my little best friend! we are so blessed to have her in our lives.

We gave her "the big present" on Sunday before Mike headed out of town, and then Skylar and I stayed up late last night to wrap her other smaller gifts...Both of my girls had to have these little stuffed animals called Beanie Baby Boo's, that cost $4.99 at the gas station of all places! Had they not got them, I think their birthdays would have been total devestation!...She got a pink princess dress that had to go on the minute she opened it, and several other great gifts. Lots of family came to celebrate with us, so I think she had a really good day. Kinda sad her dad had to miss the big day, but we are headed to Colorado tomorrow so we can spend the week with him....

Trip to the Zoo....

Aunt Marty and Sarah came in to town for the week, so one of the days they were here we headed to Hogle Zoo...It was so fun! I forgot my camera, and was so disapointed that Ronie let me be in charge of hers (Mostly because she tends to drop hers in the animal exhibits :) Her and Kris kept saying "Amy, it only holds 100 pictures..." I told them to be quiet, that I was capturing moments! (Hopefully, they will look back and be happy I captured so many!) Skylar and Chase were so good, it wasn't too terribly hot, and I have never been to the zoo when so many animals were out on the prowl...I'm generally disappointed because they are all hiding somewhere in their little habitats, but so many were right up next to the fences...It was so cool. The rhino was feeding right next to the little observation window. Those things are huge!

I think the thing I was most amazed by were the ostrich's that were right next to the railing...(Did you know their eyelids are on the bottom, so when they blink their eye closes from the bottom, not from the top like ours...weird!) Chase was dying to see the lions and tigers, and the camels, but at the end of the day the baby elephant was her favorite. Skylar loved the meerkats...they were so cute! They were hugging each other just like humans do....Ronie wanted to bring the red panda home with us, & Cyd got to see the leopard pace up and down the fence...I'm not sure what Sarah's favorite was...She just loved the clever names on all the buildings like the "Zoo-tique" instead of Boutique, and the "Beast"ro...When we made it home, we were all pooped but it was really a super fun day...So glad we went!

The 4th of July

Happy 4th! What a fun day...We started out down at Hansen Park for the Elwood Town Celebration...It is such a fun time. Everyone from Elwood comes out for a nice family outing. The favorite thing of the day has to be when the crop duster flies over the park and dumps candy all over the place. The kids scatter like wild fire to get there hands on as much as they can...Mike always does the trap shoot. Some years he comes home with a handful of winnings, this year, he was not so fortunate. Brazen won $50, and Bryson won $5...not to bad. Skylar and Chase usually find Jamie and Jade and head to all the games where they win geeky little prizes but it totally makes their day...As for me, I usually sit back and watch, suffer from swollen eyes and runny nose due to allergies, and hold all the goods..

After Being at the park all morning, we headed down to Ogden to Ronie and Don's house for swimming, a Bar B Que, and fireworks....The kids had so much fun in the pool, and Mike and I enjoyed talking with the grown-ups. Marty and Sarah arrived shortly after we did, and it was so fun to spend the day with everyone....
The night ended with a grand display of fireworks that the guys wrigged up...Jake bought a 45 ft fuse and they sat and attatched fireworks to it for hours. It took four of them to get it to the road. It was a bit slow to get started, but worked its way all the way to the end, and when it was all said and done, it was pretty impressive. Chase plugged her ears the whole time...She hasn't decided she likes the noise yet, and Skylar was right in the middle of it all, lighting off as many as her dad would let her...

And this pic was just too cute not to put on! Cydni made all the kids cute matching t-shirts that glowed in the dark.....Good friends, food and Family...what more can you ask for?!

Skylar's 6th Bithday!

On Friday, July 2nd, my little girl turned six! Where have the years gone?! I just want to take a minute and say how very proud I am of her. She is SO smart, loving, tender, and has an amazing personality that can light up a room. She is my little helper and I love her with all of my heart! Every night before we go to bed, she says "Best friends forever mom...." and I hope that we will continue to be really be best friends forever!
For her "big" gift, Mike and I gave her a battery operated Euro-scooter...So cute and can I add that I am extremely jelous. I have wanted a real one forever! But my friend and I were at Walmart one night after a movie, and they had the little beauty sitting out. When I saw it, I knew it had to be mine....It was the last one, and it was a floor model, so I got a steal on it! It is going to take some time to get used too, she is pretty wobbly on it still, but she will get there!
Later in the evening, we had the family over for cake and ice cream, where she got spoiled with more presents. Overall, I think she had a pretty good day.
